Objectives: Reach all outdoor enthusiasts planning trips to the Lake Ontario region throughout the year, and promote Oswego’s own snowmobiling initiative. Specifically target fisherman, anglers and birders.
Solution: Oswego Tourism owned key positioning on both the NY State Parks and NY Fish & Wildlife Pocket Ranger® apps during 2015. Static banner positioning on all relevant Lake Ontario area park informational pages, plus the “Where to Watch Wildlife” pages on the F&W app complemented its complete app coverage via rotating banners. By having various seasonal creative messaging, Oswego continued to promote its array of year-long activities, especially its big winter events. Cross promotions and social media pushes on Pocket Ranger® channels further engaged users and stimulated visitation to Oswego County.
Result: The NY Pocket Ranger® apps generated broad awareness among trip planners and stimulated incremental visitation. Oswego County Tourism is building on this success by renewing for 2016.
